Arizona Cardinals Defeat the Jaguars with a Game Winning FG

Cardinals Head Coach -Bruce Arians following a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars

Date: November 26, 2017 Glendale, Ariz. --- The Arizona Cardinals picked up a win at University of Phoenix Stadium against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon. Phil Dawson booted the 57-yard FG, a career long, through the uprights to put the -Cardinals on top. The win moves the Redbirds to 5-6 on the season. But the game involved a "revenge" factor as quarterback Blaine Gabbert got the start against the team who drafted him (Jaguars) and Calais Campbell returned to Glendale, facing the Cardinals, a team he spent the first eight years of his career with. Campbell did make a splash in the fourth quarter, picking up a Gabbert fumble and running 10-yards into the end zone. To go along with that big play, Campbell wracked up three tackles, one tackle for a loss and one QB hit. Below are a few game tidbits and post-game quotes.
Chandler Jones: 6 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 QB hits and 1 pass defended.

"I feel good, I am not sure if you guys realize, but I lost about 10 to 20 pounds. I feel like a lot of credit is to that. I am more agile, feel like I am faster and have more cardio. Enough about me. Our defense, our secondary, they do a good job, they lock things down. Got the Honey Badger, Patrick Peterson, the QB is sitting there patting the ball, I'm just getting to him." - Jones

Blaine Gabbert: drafted 10th overall in 2011 by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Against his former team, he was 22 of 38 241 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT.

"It's play to play. You try to execute each and every play. And some plays are not going to go your way. You have to do a great job throughout any game of compartmentalizing those turnovers, those errors in judgement, just so you can go to the next play and execute at a high level." - Gabbert

Kicking Game: Arizona is ranked T23 in kicking stats this season. Phil Dawson is 4 of 8 with kicks from 30-39 yards and 3-4 from 40-49 yards. Today, Dawson was perfect, going 4 for 4 including the game winning FG from 57 yards (which is a career-long kick).

"It felt pretty good. But you know, I've had a few long attempts before in my career and a mistake I've made is trying to hop on it and hit it too hard. I was really just trying to focus on hitting it smooth, get it on line and trust the Arizona dome that that ball will track." - Dawson

Bruce Arians: now the longest tenured coach in Arizona pro sports, being with the Redbirds since 2013. His squad is now 5-6 on the season and seeing the Cards control the ball and the clock through the first three quarters, was asked if that's how he wants to play.

"Yeah, that's the way we have to play everybody. You really have to have a balanced attack, and you have to protect the football. The two turnovers made this what it was- a real close game. Without those two turnovers, it's not as close." - Arians

DJ Foster: ASU alum, caught the sideline, toe-touching grab that put the Cards in field goal range to win the game with :06 to play.

"Amazing. You know, going out there and making a big play for the team and setting up something like that. Blaine threw a hell of a ball. Phil with a big-time kick to finish it off. It was a great game, so happy and proud of how we fought as a team to go out there and finish the game." - Foster
