The MLB Trade Deadline is at 1 PM Arizona time, but the Arizona Diamondbacks have already made a move. Gerardo Parra has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for outfielder Mitch Haniger and left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda.
Parra’s named popped up in trade rumors as the trade deadline neared. Parra won two Gold Gloves with the Diamondbacks in 2011 and 2013. Parra posted career highs in home runs (10) and RBI (48) last season, but has struggled in 2014.
Haniger is ranked as the Brewers #3 prospect by Baseball America. Haniger was the 38th overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft and was rated the Best Outfield Arm in the Milwaukee organization for the 2013-14 year. Haniger has played 67 games in Double-A Huntsville this season, he hit .255 (62-for-243) with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 10 homers, 34 RBI and 41 runs scored.
Banda is a 20-year lefty who has made 14 starts for Single-A Wisconsin this season. Banda is 6-6 with 2 saves and a 3.66 ERA (34 ER in 83.2 IP) with 83 strikeouts. He was 6-5 with a 3.93 ERA (29 ER in 66.1 IP) as a starter and he was 0-1 with 2 saves and a 2.60 ERA (5 ER in 17.1 IP) in relief.
The DBacks 40-man roster is currently at 36.
