The Arizona Cardinals defense was dealt another big blow on Monday. Pro bowl defensive end Darnell Dockett was carted off the field and underwent an MRI on his right knee on Monday. Results of the MRI are unknown, but this is potentially devastating injury to a defense has already lost some big names.
“It was a routine play and Darnell was going hard,” Dan Williams said. “His foot just got stuck in the ground. We will have to wait and see.”
Defensive end Calais Campbell said it’s never good when the cart comes out.
“It’s a tough situation to be in,” Campbell said. “Hopefully it won’t be too serious and he’ll come back soon, but it’s always a scary moment when the cart comes out.”
Dockett has missed only two games in his 10-year NFL career. The timing could not have been worse, with the regular season just two weeks away. The Cardinals philosophy of “next man up” will be put to the test if Dockett misses an extended period of time.
