aMulti-platform sports broadcaster and journalist Mason Kern is Host of "The Sports Watchdog' Radio Show," which airs on NBC Sports Radio AM 1060 (KDUS)—a station serving all of metro Phoenix (top-ranked as the #14 U.S. radio market). On this fun and fast-paced program Mason spotlights newsworthy current events and happenings in the world of pro, college and youth sports. This includes hot topic headlines; interviews with powerhouse guests like NBA All-Star and basketball Hall-of-Famer Dominique Wilkins and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Shawne Merriman; and spotlights on notable gadgets and gear suited for sports and fitness enthusiasts.
aMason also serves as a Sportscaster, Commentator and Host for various other radio, TV and online media outlets across the U.S. This has included live appearances with Good Morning Arizona, ABC13 Las Vegas, multiple KUSI-TV San Diego (as a member of their sportscasting team) and other shows where he’s delivered insightful pro and collegiate sports reports. Before that he was a regular correspondent with The CW’s “San Diego Living” show where, in addition to providing analysis on pro and collegiate athletics, he's also showcased sports and fitness product innovations in his own monthly Sports Watchdog-branded segments.
aIn addition to hosing his own "The Sports Watchdog" Radio Show on NBC Sports Radio AM 1060 in Phoenix, Mason is also a frequent radio guest delivering current event-based sports commentary, with recurring interviews with the “Sports Hangover” Show that also airs on NBC Sports Radio Phoenix as well as the SportzKelz radio show, among others. Past The Sports Watchdog Radio Show Interviewees have included current Detroit Lions safety Don Carey III, Ray Austin, Marques Ogden, and Chris Gronkowski from the NFL, as well as “Handles” Franklin and “Buckets” Blakes from the Harlem Globetrotters, Carrick Felix from the NBA, among many other sports stars. Other of Mason’s career interviews have featured Anthony Trucks, Terrell Fletcher and Bart Oates from the NFL, and Jonathan Bender and John Salmons from the NBA, as well as ESPYs-related one-on-one standup interviews with legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, ESPY-winning snowboarder Anna Gasser, Dallas Mavericks point guard Seth Curry, FOX Sports analyst Matt Leinart, Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall, the “Naughty by Nature” rap group, boxer Andre Berto, and an array of others.
aMason is also an established sports journalist who provides keen analysis and also interviews pro athletes and other industry “power players” for his syndicated editorial work with NYSportScene.com, LinkedIN.com, StewardshipReport.com, Influential-Magazine.com, and TheSportsWatchdog.com (his own brand), among other distribution platforms and pursuits.
aMason, himself a highly skilled soccer and basketball athlete, commenced broadcasting early in his sophomore year in high school (2014-2015) when he was just 15 years of age. As a high-performing academic scholar, he was accepted with distinction to Arizona State University’s esteemed Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, one of the premier journalism programs in the nation where he’s since earned his place within the ASU Chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). Even before attending college, in 2015, Mason was also extended the invitation-only honor to attend (and did attend) the prestigious 2015 Washington Journalism and Media Conference in D.C. as a National Youth Correspondent.
aMason is a member in good standing with the National Sports Media Association (NSMA), American Sportscaster Association (ASA), United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and the San Diego Press Club (SDPC).
